The carbonised objects are archaeological, poetic. They're hidden within the pots, but they're daring you to lift the rock securing the lid and have a look inside. It is a spirit being trapped within, that makes the content feel revered or taboo. There is no knowledge for the viewer to know what is inside, within the invisible. As Rancière stated, “What we can see is supported and interpenetrated by what is outside sight, the two concepts interpenetrate in interesting ways, they mix and merge together.
