The raw materials Elle uses have been transformed from different states of being. They are the bi-product of the creative process. Elle uses all states in the creation of her work, pieces will represent just one stage of a process that explores and represents life and death and it's vulnerability.

The paintings Elle creates aim for more of a three dimensional, textured image that may also change a little as some of the ash residue falls off over time, so they are not traditional two dimensional permanently static pieces. 

 

The process is entirely experimental, one experiment leads to some minor alteration which then leads to another, a sort of evolution. Elle will typically make about 10 pieces to be satisfied with just one.
